IMF Staff Concludes Visit to The Gambia

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team, led by Mr. Ulrich Jacoby, visited The Gambia from February 16-22, 2017, to hold discussions with the new government, which came into office in early 2017.

At the end of the visit, Mr. Jacoby issued the following statement:

“Discussions centered around economic developments and the economic outlook for The Gambia, economic challenges, and the government’s policies and reform priorities going forward. Further discussions will be held during a visit planned for early spring 2017 to hold discussions on the Article IV consultation, which has been delayed from last year, and possible forms of IMF support.

“The mission met with President Adama Barrow, Minister of Finance Amadou Sanneh, Central Bank Governor Amadou Colley, other government officials, development partners, and the private sector.

“The team thanks the authorities for their openness, cooperation and hospitality, and looks forward to close cooperation in the period ahead.”
